Sorry I am late posting this. I couldn't get on the site on thursday and then had to go out of town for the weekend without access to the internet. Now I can't paste my word doc to the blog. Frustrating week.
This week’s assignment is to create a GAME plan. A Game Plan is used to guide self directed learning. This week I have to choose two of the NETS-T - standards and create a game plan for those standards. The two standards that I have chosen to create game plans for are standards 2 and 3. Standard 2 is Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to
Maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. Teachers:
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity
b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become
active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress
c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using
digital tools and resources
d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology
Standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching
Standard 3 is Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
a. demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations
b. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success
and innovation
c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats
d. model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information
Resources to support research and learning
My Game Plan for standard 1 is:
G(oal):
1) Create affective lesson plans that contains the use of technology to enhance and motivate my students
2) Create assessments that will utilize technology to meet the varied learning styles of students
Actions:
1) Continue with ongoing education in the use of modern technology in the classroom
2) Use the automated response systems to create instant assessments for the students so they may get instant feedback and I will be able to adjust lessons accordingly
3) Collaborate with other teachers to get new ideas in the use of technology.
Monitor:
1) Create an electronic log that logs the use of technology in my lesson plans
2) Create a questionnaire for students to have them provide input on the effectiveness of the lessons
3) Allow students and other teachers to post on a wiki created for my classroom
Evaluate:
1) Read the posts on wiki and the questionnaires that the students provide to see if the ideas used are being helpful to the student
2) Look at final assessments to see if the student performance has increased.
Standard 3:
Goal:
1) To allow constant communication between students, parents and other teachers
2) Show students that the use of technology can be fun and rewarding in the classroom
Action:
1) Create a classroom blog and wiki to allow for student, teachers and parents to communicate with me at all times.
2) Use technology in many forms during lessons to show that technology can be fun to use!
Monitor:
1) Create a log of responses to the Wiki, The log will contain who is posting to the wiki and if the comments are positive or negative
2) Create a Poll that is placed on webpage where students can grade lessons and how well the lessons go.
Evaluate:
1) Create a place on the classroom webpage where students can post their work and show off their talents
2) Conference with students individually and discuss the lesson and the use of technology. Did the students find it useful and was it enjoyable and did they learn anything about using the technology

I think the use of blogs/ wikis to communicate with students and parents is a great idea, but you have to be very careful with security. Inappropriate post on the part of students or parents can lead to serious issues for us educators
ReplyDeleteI agree with jon-paul but I think that if properly monitored, it can be very effective. It is critical to get an honest appraisal of the application of the technology from the students because, after all, it is the students that we are trying to keep engaged.
