Reflection

In this class we created a game plan. As a coach I know how important a good game plan is to the success of a team. I did not realize how important it was for a teacher to create. The game plans I created dealt with enhancing communication between the parents, students and myself and creating assessments that would help me to better analyze the progress of my students and possibly make the assessments more meaningful to the students. What I liked most about using the game plan is that it gave a step by step framework for me to use when trying to improve myself. I had to think up what I wanted to work on. Not just some vague idea but actually set a goal in concrete terms. I found that very helpful for me. I know that I have a problem following through with what I start. Now that I had set a goal I also have to plan out specific actions to obtain that goal. Once again the game plan forces me to arrange my thoughts and actions. You also have to sit back and monitor how you are doing. Looking at how well you are doing can be difficult but very worthwhile. I plan on using this technique more often in not just my school work but at home. I also feel it can be very worthwhile for students too.
I plan to start using digital story telling immediately in my class. I look forward to using it in class and have asked my children if they would enjoy using it in the class room and they said they would. Right now we are doing standardized testing but after that I will have a month to teach and I am planning on having my students create a video story on something they have learned this year and they I plan on putting the stories on my classes website.
