Game plan for students
I think the idea of making a game plan for students is a great idea. It will help some students think past the moment they are in. Most kids do not think about the future and if we can get them to start thinking they might make better decisions. The game plan will also allow the students to look critically at what they are doing. I know that looking at ones self is difficult and it might be made easier for the students if they use it as part of a plan. I think I will start small with the student have have them make a plan on how they will get an A on a quiz or how they will get their homework assignment in on time. Then work up to bigger goals once the student are used to setting goals and trying to reach them.

You are absolutely correct when you state that students need to develop common sense critical thinking skills. Students are so concerned with grades but rarely show the same level of energy when it comes to setting goals, making changes along the and evaluating their progress you're own the right track keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more that a GAME plan for students will help them see the light to many things. I believe if we begin integrating these things into our classrooms now we are imbedding something inside our students they will be able to rely on and use whenever needed. It is not a bad thing to get students to set realistic goals. Many students struggle in this area and we have the tools to help them.
ReplyDeleteI like how you stated that it will help students look past the now and into the future. So many students are in the mode of how does it help me now, and what is in it for me. This will get them past the first, and hopefully see the second. I also like the idea of starting with something like homework completion and working up to bigger ideas. I was thinking of just making it a unit goal, but that actually may be too much for them. I like your idea a bit better. Keep up the good work.
